Celebrating Local Artists for World Art Day 2023

April 12, 2023

At Fairfield, we know that being a multifamily housing provider is much more than offering apartment quality living. It's about being a thoughtful member of the local community. That's why we're proud to work with local artists to add something special to our communities. To celebrate World Art Day coming up this weekend, check out some of the local artists that have contributed art to our communities across the nation!

Avery O Design

Local Austin artist Avery Orendorf, owner and muralist at Avery O Design, hand-paintes and hand-draws graphics that utilize clean line work, strong color combinations and repetitive patterns to create intricate but simple art pieces with a deep story potential.

Avery painted a 1,400-square-foot mural at the entrance of Fifteen15 South Lamar Apartments that encapsulates the weird, fresh spirit of the city of Austin.

The Flame of Inspiration at Embark Apartments in Fremont, CA

The towering size and shape represent the spark that begins all great ideas, and the piece was specifically designed to be a place people can sit and contemplate in the presence of something beautiful.

Matt Babcock

Matt Babcock is a professional welder, metal fabricator, and architect. With a background in art history, studio art, urban design, and engineering, he has been producing large scale sculptures and public art since 2008.

Curious? at Radiate Apartments in Redmond, WA

“Curious?” is your official invitation to investigate your surroundings. Depicting a bear puling up the sidewalk to see what’s underneath, the life-size powder-coated aluminum sculpture is a playful connection between our innate curiosity and the local Bear Creek trail. Four aerial “brushstrokes” made of folded metal plates combine to represent the form, movement, and emotional state of the bear, which took more than 200 hours to create and install.

Gordon Huether

Gordon Huether has been creating public commissions since 1989. Since, his projects have ranged from airports and transportation centers to hotels, universities, and museums. Much of his work is inspired by the effects that nature has on man-made materials and pays homage to the awe-inspiring forces of nature.

Silver Twist at The Braydon in Napa, CA

Originally displayed in an exhibition at Bottlerock Napa, this large-scale installation is made of aluminum and glass. The sculpture is prominently situated within a spiral wall in a vehicular roundabout.
